Detail engineering is the final phase of engineering necessary before construction. It involves the full development of construction quality drawings for civil, mechanical, electrical, and architectural disciplines. The goal of the detail design is to faithfully transfer the concepts and process philosophy that were developed in previous stages of engineering to the physical plant. Interface with the client and the construction contractor is required to ensure complete understanding and acceptance of the design. Operator training is often performed during this phase of the engineering and interface with that function is also desirable.
